Based in and around the Petersfield area, I provide all aspects of personal training to private and corporate clients as well as local sports clubs. Training in the comfort of your own home, a local gym or outdoor facility. Training is my passion aside from being my profession and I hold a BSc in sports and exercise science as well as an MSc in biomechanics.

  • Fat/Weight Loss

    Probably the most common reason people seek help with their training.

    It is important to make sure every minute in the gym is productive so hours aren't spent sweating in the gym in vein!

    Fat loss is quite a complex subject involving a combination of nutrition, cardio vascular training and resistance training. My job is to make this simple!

    I start by assessing an individual's current physical condition and discussing their particular goals with them. This involves a little homework in the form of some lifestyle questionnaires to make sure our time together is well spent.

    Following this, an individually tailored plan can be created that matches the needs of the individual and takes into account their lifestyle as well as their goals.

    Depending on how self-motivated you are, we can balance our time together with the knowledge and skills you will need to continue the good work outside our time.

    This is key to continuing to live a happy and healthy lifestyle. This IS fun!

  • Muscle Gain

    An increasingly popular reason for people to train - where the desire is more inclined to toning, increasing muscle mass and basically looking good on the beach.

    The focus is to get the correct mixture of resistance training and cardio. Good nutrition is every bit as important here as time in the gym.

    We will focus on current lifestyle and eating habits and a new plan will involve detailed nutritional advice as well as a suitable training program.

    It can be hard to access the knowledge required to truly understand the fastest and best way to build muscle - I am happy to provide this knowledge so you can continue to achieve your goals outside our time together.

    I will offer realistic advice depending on the effort you want to put in - everything is achievable and simple when you know how!

  • Sports Specific Training

    I have worked with professional sports people to create very detailed and individual training plans as well as rugby and football players.

    This area differs from others because the physical requirements of any given sport will need specific training.

    Muscle function and movement specific training will give best results dependent on the stresses that a particular sport puts on the body.

    It will be important to recognise the different periods that training will take e.g. Pre-season and competition.

    Physical assessments like bleep tests, shuttle runs and cooper run can be used to measure progress where peak performance it critical.

  • Postural Correction

    It is important to identify and correct postural attributes of an individual when I start working with a new client.  Potential problems can be highlighted and prevented from developing into problems in the future.

    Those that suffer existing postural problems may know too well that they can lead to secondary issues like lower back pain and headaches. This can be hard to diagnose because it may not seem immediately obvious that a posture is associated to the complaint being suffered.

    Modern society can inherently lead to postural issues where driving and sitting positions are adopted for extended periods of time and are not always ideal.

    Whilst I will always take postural alignment into consideration, sometimes it is favourable to spend more time focusing on these issues and carry out a full assessment before progressing to any other training program - a program may even be required to correct an existing condition.

  • Group Sessions

    If there are a few of you with a similar goal or if you are looking to get maximum value by booking group sessions, I can help.

    I can take into account the requirements of the group as long as they are broadly similar and it can bring a new element of fun to training as well as some much needed competition!!

    This may be for a special event like a group of bridesmaids wanting to look their best for the big day or perhaps a sports club looking to keep fit.

    An increasing number of young people are taking an interest in all aspects of training and this can make the knowledge they need affordable as well as enjoyable.

  • Corporate

    I am always keen to form links with local business and currently work with some to provide group training sessions that form part of the employment benefit package.

    In my experience, this helps with team building, employee fitness, alertness and overall health - helping a company get the best from its employees.
